Become Our Ambassador

There are many ways you may become an authorized fundraiser/ partner

Want to help raise awareness about special children special people (SCSP)  activities? Why not try running a fundraising event of your own?

Here are some events you can initiate at work, church, school or with family and friends. We aim to generate a deep passion in others who would like to help the poorest families affected by disability create their own self sustainability and work their own way out of poverty hence able to support their special needs children.

Our ability to serve more special needs children and their families depends on the generous support of individuals like you. We need you to help us spread the word about our work to friends, religious institution, family, work colleagues (even the boss) social media buddies, and that stranger sitting beside you on the train or bus.

If you would like our marketing brochure to share with friend, please Contact us.
If you would like to discuss your idea to make sure you have all the right information and support we can give you, Please share with us your plans and achievements on info@specialchildrenuganda.org .

  • BBQ: Charge neighbors, friends and family a small fee to attend your barbeque.
  • Bike-a-thorn: Discover your neighborhood and get sponsored for every kilometer you cycle.
  • Car-wash: Grab some friends and get knocking on your neighbor's doors. Tell them why you are offering to wash their car and ask for a token contribution.
  • Morning tea, Luncheons or dinner fundraising.
  •  Use your talents – put on a concert or an exhibition of your art, crafts, photography – or organize an exhibition of     others’ talents, or themed photographs.
  • Organize an auction – you could auction off your talents, not only things.
  • Sell our art works, crafts, jewellery, photographs, special needs children art pieces, etc… at a fair.
  • Having a birthday? Getting married? Ask your friends and family to give donations instead of gifts.

Fundraise in your church

Talk to the leader of your church and ask for his/her help in getting the community involved. Fundraising through the church can bring people and talents together in all sorts of new and interesting ways. It will also offer great opportunities to socialize and people to know the work of SCSP.

If you’d like to organise your own fundraising event on our behalf, we’d love to hear your ideas. It’s a great way to get involved and help spread the word amongst your family, friends and church congregation about the life changing work that SCSP does.

Organize tourists teams to visit Uganda.

 Go big, Go online:

Set yourself a challenge & collect sponsorship – from climbing a mountain to clearing an area of rubbish – or compete in an externally-organised event, like a cycle challenge, marathon etc.

Be inventive, here are a few ideas to start with….

You know your contacts and your potential donors best – be inventive about ways to raise money from them. Here’s a tempting idea to get your creative juices flowing – how about organising a friendly get-together to bag up seconds or clearance-line chocolates and sell them to colleagues and friends just before Christmas?

  • Host a fundraiser in your home, workplace or church. Invite your friends and neighbors to join you for dinner/cocktails/afternoon tea/morning coffee where they can learn about SCSP and its work.
  • Invite SCSP executive Director or a Board member to speak at you place of work, event, church etc.
  • Ask friends and colleagues to donate a $1 per day for a month.
  •  Talk to teenagers and college students – they are bound to have some fun ideas.

Register SCSP in your country

Sports tournaments, dances, parties, concerts…

What better excuse than fundraising to organise and sell tickets to that sports tournament you want to hold – be it golf, tennis, squash or other?

If that sounds too active, how about organising and selling tickets to a fancy-dress party, quiz night, film night, world food night or treasure hunt?

If you have individual talent or are part of a choir, band or orchestra your entertainment could generate funds for SCSP.
As well as having fun in the way you most enjoy, you could donate all or part of your ticket sales, or take a collection for SCSP as part of the event.

Auction or car boot sale

How about raising money for SCSP while getting rid of unwanted items. You could sell through a car boot sale or eBay and donate some or all of your takings to SCSP. Ask your friends and family to donate their unwanted items.

Leave a legacy

By remembering SCSP in your Will, you could make a huge difference to the lives of the hundreds of orphans, their families and communities.

You could also request in your Will that ‘In Memoriam’ donations are made. These are donations given instead of flowers at funerals. Many people direct in their wills that they would rather have donations made to specific causes and charities instead of flowers.

You may wish to consider adding such a provision to your Will or Codicil nominating SCSP as your preferred recipient of such donations.

The above information on legacies is intended as general advice only and we recommend that you discuss these points with a solicitor if you would like to leave a legacy to SCSP through a Will or Codicil.

Fundraise in your school / Institution

You, your school, church group or work team might like to hold a fundraising activity, a quiz night or an auction. You might like to carry out an activity and donate some of the fees collected to SCSP, or get a group together to raise funds to sponsor a special needs child.

Do you might have other great ideas about how you could fundraise for SCSP?

If you'd like to fundraise for SCSP in any way, shape or form, please do get in touch with us. As well as giving us a chance to share ideas, it will also allow us to talk a little about our mission and values, and make sure that your plans are in line with the way we work.

Non-uniform day: Ask your school to have one or more of their non-uniform days dedicated to SCSP. Students pay for the privilege of coming to school in regular clothes.

We’re always keen to encourage community events and engagement. But there’s also ways your whole workplace can raise money. We are always really keen to work with school students – we are inspired by their interest in social justice and their generosity. Please get in touch if your school group is interested in getting involved with the work of SCSP!

Use your voice

One of the best ways you can help people on the margins is to speak up. We are all responsible for building a community that is aware, alive and compassionate. The way we all act and behave impacts on people’s ability to participate in society. We can all contribute to positive change!

  •   Challenge stereotypes that you see in the media, neighborhood, community or inside yourself
  • Accept and acknowledge difference
  • Read critically – look for underlying assumptions
  • Get involved in your community's activities about disability.

Pray for SCSP

We are fortunate to still have the support of your prayers, please do include SCSP in your daily prayers. People in the community from many faith backgrounds remember the guests and the Center’s work in their prayers.

Donate your skills

If you’ve a talent or professional skill you’d like to share with us, we’d love to hear from you. We are very fortunate to have support from individuals and organizations.

We also need generous help from talented designers with our website, facebook page and annual magazine.
If you’ve a skill or talent you’d like to donate to the Center – please get in touch to discuss your ideas.

Hands on help

We welcome people who’d like to volunteer at the centre. If you think you’d like to help, please have a look at the different ways you can volunteer, and get in touch. We’ll have a chat about where your interests lie, what our current needs are, and the next steps in the process.

Volunteers play a crucial role in furthering SCSP mission, and it’s important to us that there is a good ‘fit’ between a volunteer and SCSP team.

Group volunteering

SCSP is fortunate to receive offers from corporate groups wishing to volunteer their time. Please get in touch with us if you are looking for a team volunteering opportunity – we’ll have a chat about your ideas and talents, and which projects we currently have underway.

There are many other ways that a group may like to help out: we are always in need of help for our annual events, a team may like to do a sensitization campaign or fundraising activity.

We sometimes have individuals from a workplace volunteering with us, doing everything from reviewing policies to drawing pictures with our special needs children or helping them with activities of daily living. If your organization has given you a volunteer day, please contact us.

It may just be that your special skills are a perfect fit for our organization.
